BRAFE 6 Finishes with P1M Fund

This year marks a history for the 6th BRAFE Golf Tournament, being able to finish with a P1,000,000 from the proceeds of the event at the Malarayat Golf & Country Club, Oct. 3.

Some 302 golfers gathered at the event to raise funds for the benefit of the Foundation for Sharing Lasallian Education (FSLE).

This year's tourney had two shotguns which started six in the morning. The first shotgun was meant for players coming from Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, San Pablo and other nearby cities. Meanwhile, the second one was intended for Manila golfers and other participants from outside the CALABARZON area.

Participants vied for the title from the nine divisions namely: Championship, Class A, B, C, D, Seniors A & B, Super Seniors and Ladies.

The evening awarding ceremonies highlighted the scholars as they were invited to perform for the event. Also present in the event were DLSL Pres. Br. Joaquin Martinez, FSC., Br. Antonio Servando, FSC., Br. Aikee Esmeli, FSC., Br. Ruben Caluyong, FSC, Br. Carl Clayton, FSC and LAMP Office representatives, headed by Ms. Girlie L, Navarro, Manager, Mr. Henson F. Ola, Scholarship Officer, Ms. Jhing Miñas and Ms. Enalyn Castillo.

BRAFE Golf 6 was organized by the BRAFE Core Group composed by Albert M. Garcia, Bong Africa, Edmund Datulin, Albert Verata De los Santos, Generoso D. Garica, Jr., Ben Jacinto and Roy Peña.

BRAFE Golf was founded by the friends and classmates of Br. Rafael Donato, FSC. in 2006 to gain finances to support FSLE. The first BRAFE Golf was held in October 2006 and despite the death of Brafe in November of the same year, the tournament lived on and become a commemorative event for the former DLSL president.

The foundation which believes that "Education is a right, not a privilege", was created by the late Br. Rafe in 1988 as a non-stock, non-profit organization envisioned to help financially-challenged but academically qualified students in having a Lasallian Education.

Currently, 31 students are enjoying the privilege of a free Lasallian college education in DLSL, eleven of those are sponsored by the BRAFE Golf proceeds thru the Lasallian Assistance Management Program (LAMP).
